The Seven Steps to Success
A Common-Sense Guide to Succeed in the Specialty Coffee Industry- Book by Greg Ubert

Becoming Part of the CrimsonCup® Coffee Shop Community

CrimsonCup® coffee house owners are reputed to be the best in the industry. Based on seventeen years of experience, we have established some minimum financial requirements for coffee houses. We truly want you to succeed and we take these minimums seriously given that we've seen good businesses close their doors because the owners were under-capitalized. If you have read the material below and want to get started, CrimsonCup experts are happy to help you learn how to open a coffee house.

FINANCIAL CRITERIA

Whether buying a new coffee house or purchasing an existing coffee shop, CrimsonCup’s initial financial criteria are the same.

  • Typically, a coffee franchise requires a minimum of $30,000 for the coffee franchise fee alone, plus 6% of the gross month sales' royalties.

  • Alternatively, with CrimsonCup, you are saving on the franchise fee and the royalties. There is no coffee franchise fee, no royalties, and no consulting fee.

  • To start your coffee shop business, you need at least 30% of the average total cost to open a coffee house in liquid, unencumbered cash (for example savings, stocks & mutual funds). Thirty percent of the total cost is a minimum of $50,000.
  • You also need to have the resources and ability to borrow or acquire the balance needed to open a coffee house.

    EXPERIENCE

People often ask, "How can we expect to succeed when we don't know anything about coffee? I was trained to be a teacher!" This always strikes us as funny because to teach somebody who has coffee experience is so much more difficult than starting with a clean slate.

Over the years, we've learned ways to systematize every aspect of the business so it can be easily taught to new owners or operators.

Sometimes we receive inquiries from people looking for a passive investment or a part-time project. We're always thankful that these people are impressed enough with CrimsonCup® to inquire, but we have to let them know this isn't The Community for them. Whether you plan to open one or many, the strongest coffee houses are run by people who are involved with their community, who have a passion for success and an entrepreneurial spirit.
