Armando Escobar

Armando Escobar is the Chief Espresso Officer at Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea. He has spent over 30 years traveling the country, training over 500 coffee shop owners how to open and operate a successful coffee shop business.
Armando first developed his passion for coffee in 1980 in Berkeley, CA. when he visited a coffeehouse and tried his first caffe latte. As a barista in San Francisco, he developed his palate for espresso and origin coffees. After developing his expertise as a barista, Armando began teaching others the art of coffee preparation and began training in 1982 in Berkeley.

Armando is known for teaching “The Dance”– a critical element for maximum efficiency behind the counter through proper equipment layout/placement. He is also adamant about drink consistency and awesome customer service.
In 1992, Armando, Greg Ubert and Chris Lamb worked tirelessly for seven months to create Crimson Cup’s signature coffee, Armando’s® Blend. Creating the perfect blend is very similar to how a master chef creates a perfect recipe. It requires extensive knowledge of each bean’s individual characteristics and is a tedious process with on-going coffee tastings and trials until perfection is reached.

Since its creation, Armando’s® Blend has won numerous blind taste tests against big name brands and is used exclusively by over 300 coffeehouses across the nation.
Armando resides in Worthington, Ohio with his wife Heather and son Marc.
