How We Do It Poster

We want everyone to feel comfortable when ordering a drink in our Crimson Cup Coffeehouse or any coffee house. Below is a list of drinks and definitions to help you on your way.

Coffee Drinks

Espresso- the base for all espresso-based drinks

A method of quickly extracting the heart of coffee flavor, under pressure, from specially roasted, finely ground Arabica beans. 1-1/2 ounces of Espresso is known as a “shot” and serves as the base of many delicious coffee drinks.

Single

A shot of espresso; 1-1/2 to 2 oz.

Double

Two single shots of espresso or 3 oz shot.

Caffe Ristretto

A short shot, but with the same amount of coffee as a full shot, just concentrated.

Americano

An espresso coffee drink that has been diluted with hot water to make the flavor less intense.

Cappuccino

Espresso with equal parts steamed milk and frothed milk (foam). The frothy “cap” may be garnished with sprinkled chocolate or cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla powder or sugar crystals.

Dry Cap

The above drink with less steamed milk and extra foam.

Caffe Macchiato

Espresso marked with 1 to 2 tablespoons of foamed milk. (Macchiato means “marked” in Italian.)

Caffe con Leche

Espresso with enough steamed milk to fill an 8 ounce cup.

Caffe Latte

Espesso with steamed milk, topped with a thin layer of foamed milk.

Vanilla Latte

Same as a Latte with vanilla syrup added.

Caffe Mocha

Espresso, chocolate syrup, and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and cocoa powder.

White Mocha

Espresso, white chocolate syrup, and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream.

Cafe au Lait

French style coffee made by simultaneously pouring coffee and boiled milk into a cup.

Double Tall Skinny

Double espresso and steamed nonfat milk.

Iced espresso

Double espresso with ice served in an 8 to 10 ounce glass.

Red Eye

Coffee with an added shot of espresso

Short Single

A single shot of espresso with the standard amount of milk (for a latte) or water (for an Americano).

Skinny

Any drink made with nonfat milk instead of whole milk.

Tall

A single shot of espresso with extra milk (for a latte) or water (for an Americano), served in a 10 to 12 ounce cup.
