Greg Ubert: Founder and President of CrimsonCup® Coffee & Tea

Greg Ubert is Founder and President of CrimsonCup® Coffee & Tea, a specialty coffee roaster/retailer and teacher of coffee shop business success, with 2007 sales of $6.4 million based in Columbus, Ohio. Greg founded CrimsonCup® Coffee & Tea in 1991 to roast The World’s Best Coffee and teach businesses how to be successful in specialty coffee. He documented his passion for teaching others and his proven business philosophy in a book entitled Seven Steps to Success. This book provides the business template necessary to succeed in specialty coffee.

Greg is a member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) and the service organization Rotary Club of Columbus. He serves on the advisory boards of Junior Achievement of Central Ohio and The Ohio State University School of Hospitality Managementt.

Greg holds a B.A. in economics from Harvard University, where he was a linebacker for the Crimson football team and a pitcher on the university’s baseball team. Greg lives in Columbus with his wife Laura and their three children: Caroline, Jack and Nick.

Armando Escobar: Chief Espresso Officer (CEO)

Armando has spent 28 years traveling the country training over 500 coffee shop owners how to open successful coffee shop businesses.      

Long before gourmet coffee became popular, he developed his passion for coffee on February 14th, 1980 in Berkeley, CA. with his first caffe latte.  As a barista in San Francisco, he developed his palate for espresso and coffee.  Recognized for his expertise as a barista, Armando began teaching others the art of coffee preparation.  Very similar to how a master chef creates the perfect dish, Armando created the perfect blend - Armando’s™ Blend - through seven months of on-going coffee tastings and trials.  Since 1992, Armando’s™ Blend remains the signature blend at CrimsonCup® Coffee & Tea.
