We’re always excited to share news on the health benefits of drinking coffee! So we were pleased to come across, “This is Your Brain on Coffee.” The New York Times Magazine story by Gretchen Reynolds compiles recent research showing how good java is for the mind and body.
For example, did you know that your morning cup not gives your brain a wake-up call, but it may also help to stave off dementia? That’s one of the findings of two studies published in 2012.
Reynolds also cites studies showing that moderate coffee drinking —three or four 5-ounce cups of coffee a day or a single large espresso-based drink — may reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, basal cell carcinoma (the most common skin cancer), prostate cancer, oral cancer and breast cancer recurrence.
