New Cpl. Ray’s Coffee in Odessa, Texas Joins Crimson Cup Community

July 13, 2015

Cpl. Ray's Coffee Odessa TexasKudos to Jerry and Lonna Bevel and their daughter Keisha Arnold on the opening of the second Cpl. Ray’s Coffee!

Their new shop at 311 Faudree Road in Odessa joins the original Cpl. Ray’s Coffee in Andrews, Texas, which Jerry and Lonna founded in 2007 in dedication to their son, Cpl. Ray Bevel, after he was slain in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

We’re thrilled at the success the Bevels have experienced with their shops, which are a terrific tribute to Jerry and Lonna’s son as well as other members of our U.S. Armed Forces. Thanks to their hard work, Odessa and Midland coffee aficionados can now experience the same awesome coffee and customer service they’ve come to love at the Andrews location – but without the 30-mile drive.

Jerry Bevel cited the quality of the coffee as a factor in their success. “We provide the kind of experience and high-end coffee you see in Seattle and New York City coffee houses,” he said.

The signature Ray Ray’s Mocha headlines the menu at both locations, which serve a full range of hot, cold and frozen espresso-based drinks, hot and iced teas, pour-over coffees, blended smoothies, fresh baked goods and more. Military and patriotic décor pay tribute to Cpl. Ray Bevel and other veterans.

Keish runs the new store, which was created in response to customer demand. “For the past seven years, people from Odessa and Midland who visited our Andrews shop have urged us to open one nearer to them,” Jerry Bevel said.

The Odessa community has given the new Cpl. Ray’s a warm welcome. “We’ve already beaten the Andrews location in sales on some days,” Keisha said.

She and her parents learned how to run a coffee shop through our 7 Steps to Success coffee franchise alternative program. Based on Greg’s book, Seven Steps to Success in the Specialty Coffee Industry, the program provides everything new business owners need to open and operate a successful coffee house.

As a coffee roaster and coffee franchise alternative, we believe that our company only succeeds when our customers do. As a result, we support coffee shop owners at every step – from scouting a great location and writing a coffee shop business plan to choosing equipment, hiring staff and providing comprehensive training and marketing support.
