Celebrate! 14 Independent Coffee Shops Mark Anniversaries in September 2025

Here at Crimson Cup, we love celebrating milestones – and this September is especially exciting! Fourteen independent coffee shops across eight states are marking major anniversaries, with the longest-running in the group reaching an incredible 18 years. These dedicated entrepreneurs are part of our Crimson Cup community, thriving with the support of our 7 Steps to Success program.
Since 1991, Crimson Cup has helped over 300 entrepreneurs realize their dreams of owning a coffee shop. Our 7 Steps to Success consulting program offers hands-on guidance, ensuring each shop is set up for long-term success. We’re thrilled to celebrate the achievements of these 14 coffee shops, which have an average of over six years in business!

- French Express Coffee House (Kannapolis, NC) – 11 years, celebrating since September 13, 2013
- Lavish Boutique LLC (Jasper, AL) – 8 years, celebrating since September 15, 2016
- Penny’s Perks (Dowell, IL) – 7 years, celebrating since September 22, 2017

Inspiring Stories from Rare Bird Emporium and Trek Coffee Co.
We love hearing the stories behind these incredible shops. Take Rare Bird Emporium in Murphy, NC. Owners Kate and Pav Templeton opened their doors in 2020 with a mission to create a safe, community-centered space for Cherokee County residents.
“After months of sheltering in place, we wanted our new store to be a safe place for people to feel comfortable and have conversations again,” said Kate. Their cozy shop, offering local artisan crafts alongside coffee, quickly became a beloved gathering spot.
Another inspiring story comes from Trek Coffee Co. in Bowling Green, KY, celebrating its first anniversary this year. Owner Adam Mosley’s passion for coffee and community is clear in Trek’s unique, eco-conscious approach. Their mantra, “Life’s a Trip—Fuel Up!” drives their mission to combine great coffee with environmental advocacy. “We’re on a mission to make a difference,” said Adam, whose business donates 1% of revenue to environmental causes like the Uzima Clean Water Mission.
