Stitch Coffee Brings Coffee and Community to Canton, Ga.

What happens when a close-knit family with a passion for people and great coffee moves across the country? In Canton, Georgia, it means the opening of Stitch Coffee — a warm, welcoming coffee shop where specialty coffee drinks and a commitment to community come together.
Located at 135 Reinhardt College Parkway, Stitch Coffee celebrated its Grand Opening on April 22, welcoming neighbors, friends and coffee lovers from across the area.
To mark the occasion, the Hickey family invited the community to enjoy $1 regular-size drinks all day long — a heartfelt way to say, “We’re so glad you’re here.”
A Coffee Shop with Heart (and History)
The story behind Stitch Coffee is as heartfelt as the drinks they serve. Owners Dave and Geralyn Hickey chose the name “Stitch” to honor Canton’s history as a cotton mill town — and to reflect their mission of stitching the community together, one cup at a time.
“We really want this space to bring people together,” Dave shared. “So much of Canton’s story is about stitching denim. We’re here to help ‘stitch’ the community in the same way.”
The Hickeys’ journey to Georgia began when their daughters, Sarah Medranda and Anna Dower, decided to raise their families near each other. After visiting the area for years, the Hickeys made the move from New Jersey to Canton to be near their girls. Soon, the dream of opening a coffee shop as a family began to take shape.
This isn’t their first rodeo. Before Stitch Coffee, the Hickeys successfully ran The Coffee Potter in Long Valley, New Jersey. Their experience, paired with guidance from Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea’s 7 Steps to Success consulting program, has helped them bring that same passion for great coffee and customer connection to Canton.
What’s Brewing at Stitch Coffee?
At Stitch Coffee, you’ll find more than your average cup of Joe. Their menu is filled with handcrafted classics, including espresso-based drinks and cold brew, alongside smoothies and Italian sodas for a bit of variety.
The shop’s signature five-bean Armando’s Blend coffee, roasted by Crimson Cup, is a smooth, medium-roast coffee with nutty notes and a sweet finish. Carefully sourced from coffee-growing regions across Central and South America, Indonesia and Africa, this versatile blend shines whether it’s poured over ice, crafted into a creamy latte or served nitro-style.
And because every great coffee deserves a tasty sidekick, Stitch Coffee also offers fresh-baked goods and sandwich wraps from Southern Creamery of Fairmount, Georgia, plus treats from their New York and New Jersey favorites like Linda’s Biscotti from Brooklyn and New Yorker Bagels.
“We love making great coffee,” Geralyn said, “But at the end of the day, it’s really about the people who walk through our doors.”

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Coffee Shop Owners
When asked what advice they’d give to others dreaming of opening a coffee shop, Dave didn’t sugarcoat it:
“Be careful what you wish for,” he laughed. “A lot of people have this romantic idea of running a coffee shop, but it’s long hours and hard work. Still — it’s the best job I’ve ever had.”
His best piece of advice? “Decide what you’re going to be great at — just one thing — and then partner to get the rest right.” For the Hickeys, that one thing is customer service. For great coffee? They trust Crimson Cup.
