Who we are

Specialty coffee in the heart of Ohio

Founded in 1991 by Columbus native Greg Ubert, Crimson Cup started with only a tiny roasting machine, a one-room office, and a dedication to finding and roasting specialty coffee of the highest quality. Since then, Crimson Cup has grown to become one of the largest in the Buckeye State. Among other accomplishments, we've been named Roast Magazine’s 2016 Macro Roaster of the Year. Through our coffee franchise alternative program, based on Ubert’s book "Seven Steps to Success: A Common Sense Guide to Succeed in Specialty Coffee", we have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs launch their own successful independent coffee shops.

Crimson Cup coffee is now available through a network of more than 900 independent coffee houses, grocers, college & universities, restaurants, healthcare locations and other businesses across 37 states and Bangladesh. Ubert and the team travel more than 45,000 miles each year to source coffee and to build relationships with coffee growers. The company employs over 75 associates and roasts over 500,000 pounds of coffee each year.

We invest directly in smallholder farmers to ensuring better pricing, training, and long-term soil health — solving for environmental degradation and economic instability at origin.
