Gathering Grounds Coffee House in Huron, Ohio Joins Crimson Cup Community

A big Crimson Cup welcome to Frank and Lea Wechter, whose Gathering Grounds Coffee House is the new community gathering place for Huron, Ohio.

Gathering Grounds serves hot and frozen espresso drinks, gourmet teas, smoothies, and locally-made pastries at 404 Main St. in Huron, Ohio, near the post office and the Boat Basin.

Managed by Lea Wechter, Gathering Grounds held its soft opening several months ago after completing Crimson Cup’s initial, on-site training. The Wechters celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony, a face painter, live music and drawings for prizes from around the community.

With seating for 40, Gathering Grounds has become a local meeting place for friends, students, community groups and business people. The coffee shop also hosts after-hour parties, including tea parties that come complete with tiaras for the younger crowd.

The couple owns another Huron business, but always wanted to open a coffee business. “It’s important to do something you have passion for,” Frank said. “It makes running a business so much easier.”

The Wechters learned how to open a coffee shop through our Seven Steps to Success coffee franchise alternative program.  The couple said they chose Crimson Cup as their roasting and training partner because of the quality of the coffee and consulting services.

Based on the book Seven Steps to Success in the Specialty Coffee Industry by our Founder and President Greg Ubert, the program teaches prospective coffee house owners everything they need to create a thriving business.

We’re looking forward to a long and productive partnership with Frank and Lea. To keep up with the latest happenings at Gathering Grounds, like them on Facebook.
