Cups of Joy Expands to Second Location in Wilson, NC

Cups of Joy, a popular independent coffee shop in Wilson, North Carolina, just made a big move by opening its second location at Wilson Medical Center. Owners Chris and Tanya Dunn, who took over the shop earlier this year, are thrilled to bring their signature blend of great coffee and warm customer service to the hospital’s staff, patients, and visitors.
A Natural Next Step for Growth
The Dunns saw this opportunity as a natural next step for their business. “When purchasing Cups of Joy, this opportunity presented itself,” Chris Dunn shared. “From the moment we learned the hospital was interested, we knew this was a tremendous chance to grow Cups of Joy.”
Signature Menu and Service in a New Location
Located near the hospital’s main entrance, the new spot offers the same menu of specialty drinks that has made their first location so popular. Regulars at the original Airport Boulevard shop know Cups of Joy for its friendly baristas and personal touches that make customers feel right at home. As Tanya Dunn said, “Our amazing staff knows customers’ orders by heart. This personal connection is what keeps people coming back.”

For the Dunns, Cups of Joy is about more than just coffee. “We’re building relationships,” Chris said. “Whether it’s the hospital staff starting their shift or family members visiting loved ones, we want to be that first cup of encouragement or a comforting smile at the end of a long day.”

Our 7 Steps to Success program played a big role in the Dunns’ journey from new owners to opening their second shop. Based on the book by Crimson Cup Founder and President Greg Ubert, the program has helped over 300 independent coffee shops get off the ground. The Dunns credit Crimson Cup’s consulting team with guiding them through every step, from purchasing the original location to navigating the expansion.
