From small-town main streets to busy city corners, local coffee shops bring people together — and this October, we’re raising a mug to 17 independent coffee houses across the country that are celebrating milestone anniversaries.

Each of these shops got its start and continues to grow with guidance from our 7 Steps to Success program. Marking anniversaries from two years to more than two decades, they’re proof that with expert support, small coffee businesses can grow strong and thrive long-term.

“We love seeing these entrepreneurs hit big milestones,” said Greg Ubert, our founder and president. “They started with an idea, and now they’re at the heart of their communities, growing year after year. That’s what our 7 Steps program is all about.”

• Crazy Llama Coffee – Joplin & Webb City, MO – 7 and 2 years

• St. Stephens Café – Brocton, NY – 7 years

• 1971 Grinders Coffee House – Orem, UT – 7 years

• Hawthorn Tree Coffee – Carlinville, IL – 6 years

• Huntingburg Grind Coffee & Tea Co. – Huntingburg, IN – 6 years

• Kahvi Coffee House + Café – Eau Claire, WI – 5 years

• Cup O’ Joy Coffee Barn – Edgerton, OH – 4 years

• Gateway Coffee Company – Creve Coeur, MO – 3 years

• The Vault Coffee Company – Carolina Beach, NC – 3 years

• The Downtown Mug – Columbus, NE – 2 years

• Central Pike Coffee Co. – Zanesville, OH – 2 years

From One Location to Many

We’re also thrilled to recognize a few of our shop owners who have grown from a single storefront to multiple cafés:

• Crazy Llama Coffee – Randy Miller has expanded from Joplin to Webb City, Missouri.

• Dell’s Ice Cream and Coffee – Adrienne Delligatti now runs a second shop in Dublin, Ohio.

• Stonewall Coffee – Kevin and Sarah Zakariasen operate two thriving cafés in West Virginia.

• The Downtown Mug – Mandy Tuls added this second shop in 2023 after opening The Broken Mug in 2017.
