The shop is the vision of Gina and Jeff Caro, who brought their dreams to life after learning how to open a coffee shop through our 7 Steps to Success consulting program.
Coffee Meets Gelato in a Community-Centered Café
Nestled at 6201 Stumph Road, Gina’s Gelato and Java serves up everything from rich espresso and specialty teas to small-batch gelato made with premium ingredients.
The shop’s warm, modern interior makes it a place where customers linger a little longer, whether catching up with friends, grabbing an afternoon treat or enjoying some solo time with a cup in hand.
“We’ve always dreamed of creating a space where people could connect over coffee or dessert,” said co-owner Gina Caro. “We’re thrilled by the response so far — customers keep telling us how excited they are to have both coffee and gelato under one roof.”
A Flavorful Partnership with Crimson Cup
As first-time coffee shop owners, Gina and Jeff leaned on Crimson Cup’s 7 Steps to Success program for expert guidance and hands-on support at every step.
“We didn’t want a cookie-cutter business,” Gina said. “We had original ideas, and Crimson Cup helped us bring them to life.”
From layout and equipment selection to barista training and customer service tips, the couple credits the comprehensive nature of the 7 Steps program with their shop’s successful launch. They also gave a special shoutout to Crimson Cup team members Steve Bayless and Heather Syx for their support during startup.
“Crimson Cup’s support was — and still is — overwhelming in the best way,” said Jeff.
“They were with us from our initial planning through our grand opening and beyond. It feels like we have a real partner in our corner.”
A Passion for People and Something Different
With deep roots in the Cleveland area and a background in event planning, the Caros set out to create more than just a café — they wanted an experience. Gina says their passion lies in originality and meaningful connection.
“We thrive on uniqueness,” she said. “That’s why we chose to open an independent shop instead of going the franchise route.”
Their vision was validated not just by customer feedback, but also by the coffee itself. After sampling Crimson Cup’s Armando’s Blend, the Caros were sold. “We were blown away. That blend sealed the deal.”
The shop is already generating local buzz, including a Cleveland.com feature about their opening and family food-service history.
It has also generated dozens of five-star online reviews.
“What a cute place!,” wrote one Google Local Guide. “I had a delicious mocha, then gelato (lemon, strawberry) and enjoyed it all. It was hard to choose which gelato to get, but samples were helpful! The staff was friendly and engaged. The interior was attractive, and the patio was excellent too.”
